In 1997, the Association for Women in Architecture Foundation, Inc. was established to raise funds and extend financial support to women students and, soon, to women professionals. The AWA Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3), tax exempt charitable organization.
The AWA Foundation annually awards scholarships to women pursuing degrees in architecture and allied design fields. These scholarships provide support to deserving women students as they strive to enter the design professions. The Foundation Board is defining a new category of grants to be awarded to experienced women professionals already practicing in their chosen fields. These awards could be given for professionally related travel, research, writing projects, sabbaticals, public presentations, teaching, and other activities reflecting their advanced professional status.
The AWA Foundation is continually seeking sponsors, donors, and creative ways to raise funds to meet a long-range goal to grow the AWAF Dedicated fund so its proceeds will permanently fund the scholarships and grants.
