Last month, AWA+D collaborated with the Los Angeles Forum and A+D Architecture and Design Museum for an exciting PechaKucha night. Attendees were introduced to a group of gifted women representing all facets of the art and design professions. The event was integral to A+D’s current exhibition “COME IN! les femmes” which showcases installations done by twenty-five female artists whose disciplines range anywhere from textile design to architecture to fine art as well as the LA Forum’s retrospective exhibition “Unfinished Business – 25 Years of Discourse in Los Angeles. The gathering was intimate yet drew a diverse crowd, with over a hundred guests in attendance! With a bottle of beer or glass of wine in hand, everyone turned their undivided attention to the podium.
This was the sixth PechaKucha dedicated to the alluring work of women designers in Los Angeles. The highly efficient 20×20 format slideshows (twenty seconds of speaking per slide) encouraged multiple ideas and innovations that could be introduced, shared, and talked about among the group. AWA+D was proud to be a part of this highly successful collaboration and presentation.
